A LITTLE SMILE

Let us ponder for a while
And think about a little smile,
An indication on a face
Of kindness and an inner grace;
A small expression, free to give,
Reflecting how you think and live
And even if you're feeling low

THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS

There was a time, not long ago,
Of lengthy traffic queues
When drivers wandered in the street
To chat and hear the news,
Or rested on their steering wheels
And watched the world go by,
But progress put an end to this:

A LAST FAREWELL

The graveyard is empty,
The priest and the mourners have gone,
My thoughts are confusion,
I cry as I stand, looking on:
"You should have known better,"
My thought, in rhetorical muse,
"We all could have helped you",

THE CHRISTMAS GOOSE

Way back in my childhood, when I was just ten
A Christmas Day feast was a duck or large hen
But Granny suggested alternative meat
