With the change of Millennium, Peter’s books were upgraded to more pages, glossy paper and an all colour cover, but this did not detract from his poetry.    It continued to improve as this download will show.

“Monuments” was soon used in other publications and the curse of the telephone and the frustration of computers became major talking points arising from his other verses.

SAMPLE  VERSES

MANGERTON MOUNTAIN

The first time I climbed up on Mangerton Mountain
My thoughts were enthused by a landscape so free,
I crossed the long grass on the high summit plateau
To view all the mountains that rise from the sea;
I stood on the edge of the great Devil’s Punchbowl
And looked to where Cormick and Roche fought their last
And then Glenacappel, the horse glen below me,
Where pathways of ponies worked hard in the past.    .……(cont)

THE LEISURE SUITE

The children have all gone to school,
The shopping trolley done,
The house is now all spick and span,
It’s time to have some fun,
So on with licra leotards
And sports designer shoes
And off into the nearest town
To hear the latest news.    .……………(continued)

DREAMS

The vigour of youth has its great expectations
With blindness to danger and strength in the heart,
Where dreams are for real and ripe for the picking,
When being alive is the right time to start.    .……………(continued)

A CUP OF TEA

I think you’ll agree
That a good cup of tea
Is splendid for every occasion,
Can anyone think
Of a tastier drink
For attacking a lack of hydration?
So pour out a cup in the kitchen,
Add in the sugar and milk
And enjoy the drink of the people
Renowned for their rice and their silk.    .……………(continued)
